Perry L. Savage, MD

"I firmly believe one of the best ways to reach an accurate diagnosis is to listen to patients and receive their input. I let my patients do the talking first, and then I perform an exam based on the information they've given me."

Patients know that when they see Dr. Perry Savage they will receive the kind of medical attention they deserve. He works closely with each patient to diagnose and treat even the most difficult orthopedic problems.

Originally from Piedmont, Alabama, Dr. Savage graduated with honors from Jacksonville State University with degrees in biology and chemistry. He received his M.D. from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. After serving in the Army during the Vietnam conflict, Dr. Savage completed his orthopedic training at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and has been in private practice since 1974. Dr. Savage specializes in surgery of the spine, with emphasis on chronic spine problems and reconstructive surgery. He was one of the first physicians in the Birmingham area to perform noninvasive disc surgery. He also specializes in complicated surgeries that treat spinal stenosis, scoliosis, and trauma to the spine.
