BONE DENSITY

As orthopedists, we deal with the musculoskeletal system. One of the biggest concerns we have is keeping a watchful eye on osteoporosis. That is a disease that causes bones to breakdown and become more fragile. We believe that knowing what state the bones are in is a great starting point in knowing not only what we’re dealing with but how best to treat you. That is the very reason that we have an in-house densitometry machine.

WHAT IS A BONE DENSITY TEST?

A bone density test is a noninvasive way to use x-rays to measure the amount of calcium and other minerals that are packed into different segments of your bones. These tests are a fairly accurate indicator of your risk for fractures and can be used to diagnose and monitor the treatment of osteoporosis.

DOES IT HURT?

No. Getting a bone density test is just like getting an x-ray and is done right here, in our clinic.
